A Chemical Skin Peel is used to remove the outermost layer of the skin. The aim of the treatment is to create 'controlled injury' to the skin. This controlled injury creates a healing response to the skin which encourages collagen and elastin production, which is what makes the skin firm and smooth. The additional benefit of the skin peels it creates an exfoliating effect on the skin, which will leave the younger and fresher looking layers of the skin below.
Each chemical skin peel contain a cocktail of ingredients to target specific skin concerns. Whether it be for acne/breakouts, rejuvenating for fine lines and wrinkles or for intense hydration in turn plumping out the skin.

There is very little downtime as it is a superficial peel there is in most cases no actual peeling of the skin it may just go a little dry. There is slight erythema / redness after the treatment which normally subsides by the following day which can feel like a mild sunburn. The treatment also includes an intensive repair mask and LED light treatment which helps reduce any erythema as well as encouraging new collagen production.
As with all facial treatments avoid any steam, chlorine and excess heat. Make up should not be applied for 24 hours and you should definitely avoid any high levels of sun exposure so it is advised to have a skin peel treatment at least 2 weeks before any holidays. You should always wear a minimum factor 40 SPF after a skin peel.
